Payment terms, payment ethics and resolution of commercial disputes
Local judicial and arbitration bodies can be used – but their decisions tend to be lengthy and easily influenced. When resolving commercial disputes, it is always desirable to give preference to out-of-court negotiations. In any case, we recommend incorporating into the contract a provision on the basis of which any arbitration proceedings would take place outside of Sierra Leone, which recognizes the decisions of foreign arbitration courts (SL has signed the Washington Agreement on the Settlement of Investment Disputes). In relation to Czech companies, we have not yet recorded a case of a commercial dispute that would have to be resolved by a third party (court).

Visas, fees, specific conditions for traveling to the territory
Citizens of the Czech Republic need a visa to enter Sierra Leone. It is possible to apply for a visa at any embassy of Sierra Leone abroad (Berlin, London, Moscow, Accra are considered, for example) on the basis of an invitation from a local partner. We recommend checking in advance the conditions for obtaining a visa, entering the country and leaving by asking directly at the relevant embassy
Employment of citizens from the Czech Republic
Anyone posted to Sierra Leone for business purposes will need a business visa. As with the normal visa requirements (vaccination certificate, passport, completed visa application form, passport photo), the authorities will ask for a profile of the company you represent, with a recommendation from a registered company or organization in Sierra Leone. You will also be asked to provide proof that you have sufficient funds to finance the period you intend to stay in Sierra Leone.
For those planning to stay and work in Sierra Leone for the long term, it will be necessary to obtain a temporary residence visa as well as a work permit. Your (future) employer should help you with this.
