New Waverly is located in Walker County, Texas, about 50 miles north of Houston. The city is situated on the banks of the Trinity River and has a population of around 2,200. The area was first settled by pioneers in 1845, when John Beasley and his family built a log cabin near what would become New Waverly. In 1872, the Houston and Great Northern Railroad extended its tracks through the area and established a depot at what would become New Waverly. In 1879, a post office was established and given the name “New Waverly” after an old town in England. Since then, New Waverly has grown into a thriving community with many businesses and organizations that support local residents and visitors alike.

In terms of politics, New Waverly is part of Texas’ 8th Congressional District which is currently represented by Kevin Brady (R).
