How to Get to Suzdal, Russia

The way to Suzdal lies through Vladimir. Travelers can choose to travel by any method – train, bus or private car. There is a regular bus service between Vladimir and Suzdal – buses run every half an hour, from early morning until late evening. Travel time is 45 minutes, ticket price is about 110 RUB. A taxi ride along the same route will cost 700-900 RUB. The road to Suzdal is very picturesque – it can be safely included in a sightseeing tour of the Vladimir-Suzdal land. By train

According to clothesbliss, the fastest way to get from Moscow to Vladimir is to use the Lastochka high-speed train, which follows the route Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod. It really “flies” with lightning speed – in just 1 hour 40 minutes against the usual 3.5 hours on the Vladimir train. The ticket price varies from 780 to 2000 RUB. For 680 RUB you can get in a seated car of the Moscow-Vladimir train. Trains of this direction depart from Yaroslavsky and Kursky railway stations in Moscow.

By bus

A bus from Moscow to Ivanovo makes a stop in Suzdal. Departure from the Shchelkovsky bus station (website), travel time 4 hours, ticket price – about 696 RUB. All flights from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod, Murom, Vyksa, Gus-Khrustalny, Ivanovo and Kovrov pass through the Vladimir bus station, where you can transfer to Suzdal. Travel time is 3.5 hours, ticket price is about 500 RUB.

The Suzdal bus station is located on the outskirts, but many buses go further and take their passengers to the Torgovaya Square.

By car

The road to Suzdal runs along the M7 Volga highway. The distance from Moscow is about 170 km, it can be overcome in 3 hours of a leisurely drive. Motorists traveling on the eve of the weekend are likely to encounter traffic jams in the area of ​​Reutov, Balashikha and Noginsk. And in Suzdal itself, another difficulty awaits them – the problem with parking.

Not far from Vladimir is one of the symbols of Vladimir Rus, the famous Church of the Intercession on the Nerl. It is located near the Bogolyubovo station, where commuter trains and buses run. By car, you can get there along the M7 highway in the direction of Nizhny Novgorod. You can’t drive up to the temple itself: you have to walk about 1.5 km – leave the car at the station, cross the railway bridge over the tracks and go through the field.

Lenin Street is the main city thoroughfare, along which the whole of Suzdal stretches from north to south. The center of the city can be considered Torgovaya Square, which is crossed by Lenin Street. The most popular part of the city from a tourist point of view is located between the Kremlin in the southwest and the Spaso-Evfimevsky Monastery in the north. The area located on the low right bank of the Kamenka is called the Zarechnaya side. He owns the Intercession Monastery and churches of the 18th century. Directly opposite the Kremlin are two of the most photographed churches on the right bank of Suzdal.

There are several observation platforms in the city, from which magnificent views of the surroundings open – at the Spaso-Evfimievskiy Monastery, on the bell towers of the Rizopolozhenskiy and Vasilyevsky monasteries, as well as the Church of the Resurrection. Another observation deck is located at the entrance to the city – before reaching the Vladimirskaya Zastava, you need to turn left and drive a couple of kilometers.

Hotels in Suzdal

There are hotels and private guest houses in Suzdal, which have a small number of rooms with breakfast at home. A standard double room in a hotel will cost 3000-3500 RUB, and a luxury room – 5000-7000 RUB. You can comfortably spend the night in guest houses for 1000 RUB per person per day, and renting a whole house will cost from 8000 RUB.

It is better to book rooms in advance, even if it seems to you that you are going out of season.

There are also hostels in the city, where for accommodation in multi-bed rooms they ask from 700 RUB per person. The most economical option is an overnight stay in a monastery hotel. Hotels and guest houses are scattered throughout the city – there are options both in the very center and on the remote, quiet outskirts.

Transportation

The best way to feel the fabulous atmosphere of Suzdal and see all its hidden corners is leisurely walks. Moreover, urban public transport is underdeveloped. Buses run only on 4 city routes. The fare is 23 RUB.

You can move freely around the city and visit more places in a day with a bicycle. This vehicle is available for rent in almost every guest house or hotel. The rental price is from 200 RUB per hour. And especially for connoisseurs of the old provincial spirit, they came up with another way to get to know the city – sightseeing tours in horse-drawn carriages. You can book a walk at the Market Square.

In the city itself, a car is unlikely to be needed, but a trip around the surrounding area will give many vivid impressions. 3 km from Suzdal is the village of Kideksha, where people come to see the Archangel Church and the temple of Alexander Nevsky. In the village of Sanino, which is only 15 km from the city, there is a functioning St. Nicholas Convent. It is famous for its source of healing water, myrrh-streaming icons and self-renewing frescoes. The former estate of the commander Suvorov is only 10 km away from Suzdal. The village of Kistysh was given to the grandfather of the field marshal by Peter the Great himself more than 500 years ago.
