Test Center Information

***IF THE FOLLOWING IS NOT FORMATTED CORRECTLY, PLEASE VISIT AND READ THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.PURDUE.EDU/TESTINGCENTER***
All Pearson VUE candidates should prepare in advance by reviewing their registration materials and the Testing Center’s Test Day Information. It is your responsibility to know what materials, such as identification, you will need to bring with you and what items will not be allowed in the Testing Center.

Be aware that due to the variety and nature of exams we administer, the NO OUTERWEAR is allowed in the testing room. This includes coats, jackets, hoodies, other sweatshirts/sweaters with hoods or pockets, suit coats, blazers, vests, scarves, and other outerwear at the discretion of Testing Center Administrators. Light jackets, sweatshirts, or sweaters without hoods or pockets may be admissible, but ABSOLUTELY NO OUTERWEAR WITH HOODS AND/OR POCKETS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR ANY TEST. This restriction supersedes any test sponsor permission regarding allowable clothing items.
As part of regular testing procedure, you will be asked to empty your pockets and remove jewelry and watches. Secure lockers are provided for storing personal items. If you would not feel comfortable leaving certain items in a locker, please do not bring those items to the Testing Center.

If you cannot be admitted due to invalid ID or inadmissible items, you will be turned away and forfeit your opportunity to test. Testing Center Administrators do not have the authority to make exceptions to test vendor regulations.

Note that your REPORT TIME IS 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED EXAM TIME. You will need time to put away your personal belongings and complete the required check-in process before being admitted to test. If you do not allow sufficient time for this process, you will not be able to begin your test at the scheduled time. Late arrivals who cannot be accommodated will be turned away and forfeit their opportunity to test.

At check-in, you will be provided with a rules agreement for your test. It is your responsibility to thoroughly review the information for every test, even if you have taken the test before. By providing your electronic signature during admission, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to the exam sponsor’s rules and policies.

***DIRECTIONS and PARKING***
For a printable campus map, go to www.purdue.edu/campus_map.
The Purdue Testing Center is located in the basement of Schleman Hall, Room B42. Schleman Hall can be found north of the Bell Tower, in the northwest corner of the Engineering Mall on the Purdue University campus. It is positioned between Northwestern Avenue and North University Street, near Hovde Hall, the Elliot Hall of Music, and the ROTC Armory.
Many campus loop buses are available; the most convenient stop near the Testing Center is in front of the Purdue University Student Health (PUSH) Center. For campus loop bus routes and time tables, please visit http://www.gocitybus.com/campus.

IF YOU ARE DRIVING TO THE TESTING CENTER, PLEASE NOTE THAT IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO FIND PARKING! This is a large, busy campus, and many parking spaces are reserved or permit-only. We recommend allowing yourself at least half an hour to get a parking pass if necessary, find a spot, and travel from the parking area to the Testing Center.
There are several ongoing contruction projects on campus and in the Greater Lafayette area. Most notably, a new building project occurring directly in front of Schleman Hall has further reduced parking options and may limit access via University Street. Please plan ahead and allow yourself some extra time to manage unexpected delays or detours! For construction notices and maps, go to https://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/constructionmap/.

Free parking is available on campus ONLY after 5:00 pm on weekday evenings and on weekends, and even then parking areas may be reserved for sports or other special events. Watch for police orders or other signage that supersedes normal parking regulations. Sporting event schedules are available at www.purduesports.com.

Before 5:00 pm on weekdays, pay parking is available in the Grant Street parking garage across from the Purdue Memorial Union. The cost is $3.00 for the first hour and $1.00 for each additional hour, with a cap of $10.00 per day. If approaching from the east, take State Street up the hill and turn right onto Grant Street. The entrance to the garage will be the first right. If approaching from the west, take State Street or Harrison Street and turn left onto Grant. The entrance to the garage will be on the right; watch for the sign. It is about a 15 minute walk from the Grant Street parking garage to Schleman Hall. Walk behind the Purdue Memorial Union, past Stewart Center. Turn right at Wetherill Hall and go toward the Engineering Mall. Turn left at the Bell Tower and walk under the skywalk between the Elliot Hall of Music and Hovde Hall. Schleman Hall will be directly in front of you.

Another option is to obtain a day pass for parking in permit-only lots and garages, which can be purchased from Parking Facilities for $5. This requires an extra stop at the opposite end of campus, but it will allow you to park closer to the Testing Center and is a more economical option for students taking longer tests. The Parking Facilities office is located at the Materials Management and Distribution Center (MMDC) at 700 Ahlers Drive. https://www.purdue.edu/visit/gettingHere/parking.html

The most convenient parking area near the Testing Center is the University Street Parking Garage, which is permit-only from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. To get to the garage from Parking Facilities, go west on Ahlers Drive toward campus. Turn left on Russell St, then right on State Street, and finally left on University Street. The garage will be on the left.
Parking elsewhere or in permit-only areas without a permit is at your own risk. Most test vendors do not allow candidates to leave the building during breaks, so you will not be able to move your car or feed a meter. If parked illegally, your car may be ticketed, booted, or towed at your expense.

Coming from Indianapolis:
Take I-65 N toward Chicago
Take Exit 172 toward Lafayette
Turn left onto IN-26 W
Continue straight to campus (IN-26 will be called Columbia Street in downtown Lafayette, then State Street in West Lafayette)
Coming from Chicago:
Take I-90 E/I-94 E toward Indiana
Continue on I-90 E, follow signs for I-90 Skyway E/Indiana Toll Road
Take Exit 17 to merge onto I-65 S toward Indianapolis
Take Exit 178 for IN-43 toward Brookston/West Lafayette
Turn right onto IN-43/River Road
Turn right onto IN-26/State Street

If you are coming from another state or time zone, please check West Lafayette local time beforehand! Tippecanoe County is on Eastern Time and observes Daylight Saving Time (EST/EDT). If you arrive late for your appointment (due to a time difference or otherwise) we may not be able to accommodate you. Please don’t let your long drive be a waste of time and gas!
Again, please plan ahead and allow extra travel time, just in case. Double-check for contruction notices before you leave. It is much better to arrive extra early than too late!
