The climate of Lalibela
According to citypopulationreview, Lalibela is a small town in northern Ethiopia, not far from the Eritrea, in the Amhara region. The city is best known for its rock churches. These special churches are completely carved out of the rock. They were built in the 13th century by order of King Lalibela of Ethiopia. In total there are 13 of these rock churches in and around Lalibela. The rock churches of Lalibela are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is located at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters.
According to paulfootwear, Lalibela has a warm steppe climate, which is strongly influenced by the high altitude of the city. Due to this higher location, the city has lower temperatures than many other parts of Ethiopia. There is very little rainfall all year round, except in the months of July and August.
