The climate of the Arikok National Park
Since the year 2000 Aruba has its own national park: Arikok. This protected nature reserve is located in the northeastern part of Aruba. It covers an area of 34 square kilometers. That is almost 20% of the entire island. The Arikok National Park mainly consists of hilly landscape. Part of the landscape consists of solidified lava, part of limestone rocks and various other rocks. The flora mainly consists of shrubs and trees that thrive in a semi-arid climate such as that applicable in Aruba. You will encounter quite a lot of cacti during a walk or drive through the national park. On the coast you will find a number of so-called bocas. These coves provide white sandy beaches on the otherwise rugged north coast. Well-known bays are Boca Prins and Dos Playa Beach.

Typical features of this climate are the relatively limited amounts of precipitation and the fairly constant high temperatures, both during the day and in the evening.
