Weight and size (measurements)
Obviously a flashlight has a place and its size, shape and weight is one of the first considerations.
General handgun we will choose headlights “of Keychain”, “Pocket” or “pencil”
Then there are those that have a weight and higher volume and are going to choose them for the backpack bag, purse, or belt
Then there is a special category of oversized headlights for specific uses and lanterns and spotlights.
Modes – with one or several functions
Headlights can have an on/off switch a single on/off mode or single mode.

Say that the amount of light are measured reference that manufacturers put, but, although that may be correct measurements and can serve to assess a flashlight or another and compare them, the efficiency or otherwise of each lantern is a set of factors that, headlights similar to measured values, they can give various results. I.e., help us to compare, but not so much to find out exactly like they behave.
As I said above, not always the flashlight more powerful is the best option, since it may condition the battery consumption unnecessarily for the use that will be.
The measures that we can find in the specifications are:
Lumen (lm): Amount of light that emits light (lamp or led) source measured at its output (usually without the head or the headlight lens be placed, so it can be reduced).
Lux (lx): Amount of light measured on the illuminated surface.
Candela (Cd): power of the beam of light or luminous flux in a given direction, with respect to the opening angle of the beam, (bone, how much that focuses or beam of light opens.)
Equivalences among measures:
= 1 lm/m2
= 1 cd · SR/m2
“sr” means StereoRadian or steradian which is the radio emission of the beam of light, which comes as the radian, but instead of being in 2 dimensions is in 3 dimensions or hemispherical

What light we could include:
Launchers: Flashlights are very pontentes with a concentrated beam of light that reach long distances.
Innundadores: They are headlights with the capacity of abaracar a large area, but with one shorter distance, extending the beam of light.
But the majority of lanterns seek an intermission, looking for a good brightness and openness to a distance deteriminada. So many brands put lighting, not as a maximum distance in their catalogues, but that marked the relationship of efficiency.
Zoom, focus, focus, focusable: They allow to adjust the beam of light, concentrandolo, or agrandandolo, giving us the possibility of obtaining more concentrated light or more lighting area. It is evident that this is a great advantage for the majority of users, unless you seek a flashlight for specific use.
Amount of time of continuous use
It is the number of minutes or hours of continuous use of the flashlight, measured by the fabricate, that allows to use the flashlight failure-free. We must prevent mistaken for the number of hours of use of the torch with a load of batteries or batteries.

Type of lighting

XR-E = series or
Q5 = indicates lumens (most letter alphabetically speaking, larger number and greater light emission, i.e. a Q5 is more than a Q4 and a R1 is more than a Q5) (catalogs may appear as “binning”)
In any catalogue we can meet that put us also the color of the led (warm white, cold white, etc.) for example “1B”

Considerations about the temperature of the led:
A LED work cold is extremely important for 2 reasons:
1st – low temperature performance. If a LED Cree XR-E white gives us 110 lm/w (lumens for each Watt consumed) at 25 ° C if we put it at 100 ° C this performance may fall 20%. This temperature may seem high but bad designs of flashlights and other lights is very easy to get such high temperatures. And I assure you that trash is selling…
2nd – the duration of a LED in hours working temp. high, it is lower. The LEDs are not typically fudir as tungsten bulbs but if much lower them performance with hours of use. A LED working cold at 50,000 h of equal use continues providing 80% of light when it was new. If you do work at high temperature as with 50,000 equal h stay in a miserable 50 or 60%. Anyway 50,000 h for a flashlight are many hours.
A LED flashlight powerful that after a few minutes use does not have the housing to something warm can be bad sign. Means that the heat is all the LED and not the released to the outside.
Hid: (high intensity discharge), is a technology with specific uses (also more face) which allows a beam of light very bright and powerful, with a format of “bulb” or light, rising temperatures and certain fragility. To get an idea, it is not recommend to issue directly to human eyes to less than 10 meters.
